When I began working with Snapixel magazine it was a simple online catalog designed to showcase the work of photographers participating in an online service similar to Flickr. In working through the first couple of issues, I realized that there was potential to use the resources we had to expand support to a wider range of photographers to make a more engaging product, still focused on promoting the photographic community.
I initiated redesign of magazine—transforming it into a fully-fledged arts publication. This push included a new magazine concept with articles highlighting emerging and mid-career photographers, written by freelance contributors. In the relaunch, we also shifted the brand identity as well as layout and graphic design. We redesigned the publication’s homepage, created a media kit and business plan, recruited advertisers and content partners to help grow the magazine’s reach.
